This is an online course delivered via the interactive website, please note this still requires an in person exam to be able to obtain certification.

 

The Short-Range Certificate course is the authority to operate a marine band vhf radio onboard a UK flagged vessel. To facilitate the learning of the course the participant will be sent the VHF Handbook. It is required that all students read the first 6 chapters. It is advisable that any participants learn the phonetic alphabet prior to starting the course. This pre study element normally requires a minimum of 3 hours.

RYA Marine Radio SRC Exam

SRC exams consist of a written theory exam and assessment in the practical use of marine VHF radios The exam fee is payable to the RYA.

Most candidates are required to complete an RYA SRC course prior to taking the exam, therefore the majority of exams take place at the end of the course. The RYA training centre will give you details of the time and location for your exam when you book your course. .

What's Included

Please note that the time allocated for the exam at the end of the day is in addition to the time listed for the course duration.  All exam candidates will also require a passport sized photo.
